About One More Time
In a surprise turn of events, we are getting Pap Star on this track as the artist, not the producer. It’s a smooth, cheeky, slow vibe about figuring out how to spin the block. Timed perfectly for Valentine’s release, I sense many exes were plotting through the weekend with this song for inspiration.
Standout Lyrics
“Tell me what I gotta do to get more time. I need it one more time.” Those lyrics say it all. I have to wonder though, is one more time just one more time? Pap Star speaks about a woman catching his eye physically. He reminisces about their last time together when he said it would be the last time. Now, he’s distracted again and daydreaming about running it back. The audience takes that daydream with him through the song, and you get a sense of the toxic, addictive connection here. There are some extra spicy moments, which we have come to expect from Pap Star, too.
One More Time Soundscape
The piano introduction is romantic and brings an elevated element to the song before trap-style drums pick up the mood and energy. The mix is clean, and instrumentals are heavy on the rhythm and light on the melody, allowing the vocals to shine. Selfishly, I wish I could pick up more of the piano undertones, however, I don’t find fault in that decision to have them subtly carry the romantic note throughout.
Incredibly, the style is well matched to Pap Star and his existing sound, with producers XXVII and K3LVIN KAOS creating the soundscape for the song. The project is a well-formed collaboration that came together seamlessly. I particularly enjoyed the contrast in musical concepts with trap and classic sound paired with the lyrical work. Sonically, the production is a match to the feel and messaging, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Who’s Ready to Fall in Lust?
It’s not a love song, and we are here for it. It’s a little toxic and a lot of lust, but it’s 2024, so let’s get real. There is a huge audience for this song. Existing Pap Star, XXVVII, and K3LVIN KAOS fans will lock in with this track. Anyone who loves T-Pain will connect with this one. Then, of course, there will be those baddies who just love to see a man fiending, who will find this song amusing. If you love the southern trap or a demon time vibe, this one is slow enough to pass a loverboy vibe check, with a beat that keeps it fast enough that you don’t fall in love by accident while listening.
