Here at Photobombshell Media, we’re all about amplifying the voices of independent artists. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to a rising star in the music scene, James Loner. From the heart of Queens, to stages and playlists worldwide, James Loner is on a mission to inspire and connect. Let’s get into it!
Meet James Loner
Photobombshell: Hi, James! Thank you so much for reaching out and agreeing to share your story with the independent artists and us on this platform. For those who don’t yet know and love you and your music, share a little bit about yourself and what people can expect when they listen to your music.
James Loner: Hi, and thank you so much for having me! My name is James Loner, and I’m an independent artist who creates music for people who live on their own terms. Those who embrace individuality and thrive in their own lane. My sound is rhythmic energy, introspective storytelling, and smooth, laid-back vibes.
If I had to describe my style using three songs, I’d start with Midnight Nectar. It’s an upbeat track perfect for getting you hyped with its rhythmic, feel-good energy. Then there’s iENViSiON, an introspective song that dives into the journey of perseverance, focus, and staying true to your vision. Finally, Take Care rounds it out as a laid-back vibe perfect for cruising and enjoying the moment.
When you listen to my music, you can expect real, relatable stories and a sound that connects emotionally, no matter the mood.

Queens as the Backdrop for Creativity
Photobombshell: I know you’re from New York, and you started at an early age, making music and harnessing your creativity to share emotion with the world. What sparked that interest?
James Loner: Growing up in Flushing, Queens, I was surrounded by a mix of cultures and stories that made life feel like its own rhythm. Music became my way of making sense of it all. It was a way to express what I couldn’t always put into words. What started as an outlet, a place to be real with myself, turned into something bigger. Music became a way to connect with others and share those raw emotions. For me, making music isn’t just about the sound. It’s about telling my story and helping others feel seen in theirs. That’s what drives me every day.
Does Art Imitate Life?
Photobombshell: You have publicly shared that your lived experiences inspire your work. What top three events in your life do you think most impacted your music or influenced you to create?
James Loner: My music is deeply rooted in my life experiences. Three events stand out as having the biggest impact on my creativity. First, growing up in Flushing, Queens, shaped my perspective on individuality and resilience. Being surrounded by diverse cultures taught me how to find my voice in the noise, which is a big part of my music today.
Second, experiencing loss early in life pushed me to channel my emotions into something meaningful. Music became my way of processing pain, and that vulnerability is something I strive to keep in my work. It’s what connects me to listeners on a deeper level.
Lastly, becoming a father changed everything. It gave me a new sense of purpose and inspired me to create music that not only reflects my journey but also leaves something meaningful behind. Each song I create now carries a little bit of that legacy.
About Envision
Photobombshell: Talk about your recent project, Envision, released in November 2024. Why is this project special and what made 2024 the right time to release it?
James Loner: Envision is one of my most personal projects to date. It’s a reflection of the ups and downs I’ve faced and the focus it takes to stay locked in on your goals, no matter the distractions. This track is special because it embodies the mindset of perseverance and belief in your vision, even when the path feels uncertain.
2024 felt like the perfect time to release it because it was a year of clarity and momentum for me. I’ve been evolving as an artist and person, and Envision captures that energy. It’s about staying true to yourself and trusting the process. That’s a message I felt was needed for myself and anyone chasing something bigger than themselves.

Challenges as an Independent Artist
Photobombshell: What has been your greatest challenge as an independent artist and how have you navigated that?
James Loner: One of the greatest challenges as an independent artist has been balancing the creative side of music with the business side. As an independent, you wear a lot of hats. You’re not just the artist. You’re also the marketer, the strategist, and sometimes even the team. Navigating that can be overwhelming, especially when you want to focus purely on creating.
I’ve learned to navigate it by prioritizing organization and building relationships. I’ve leaned into resources like social media, collaborations, and platforms that support independent artists. Most importantly, I’ve embraced the idea that growth takes time. It’s a grind, but it’s also rewarding because every step is yours to own. The freedom to stay true to my vision makes the challenges worth it.
Creative Favorites
Photobombshell: I love your perspective on prioritizing organization! That is huge for fellow artists and a gem for sure. What is your favorite song you’ve ever done? Why?
James Loner: It’s hard to choose, but two of my favorite songs I’ve ever created are iENViSiON and Take Care. iENViSiON is special to me because it reflects my journey. It showcases the focus, resilience, and belief it takes to push through challenges and stay committed to your goals. Writing it felt like a defining moment where I could articulate everything I’d been feeling and experiencing.

On the other hand, Take Care captures a different side of me. It’s laid-back and smooth, a track that feels effortless but carries depth. Collaborating with the incredibly talented Cliff Ku$h took this song to another level. His artistry and unique vibe brought the track to life in ways I couldn’t have imagined, adding layers of emotion and intention that you can truly feel. It’s one of those songs you can vibe to while still connecting with the depth behind it. Both tracks mean a lot to me because they represent different aspects of who I am as an artist and a person.
Building a Digital Footprint
Photobombshell: I know you’re on SoundCloud and YouTube and with the professional visuals and audio I see there, I know you’re going to be a presence that continues to grow.
James Loner: Absolutely. I’m already distributing my music on major platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal. While SoundCloud and YouTube have been amazing for connecting with listeners and building my foundation, being on major DSPs allows me to expand my reach and grow as an artist. I want my music to be accessible wherever people listen, whether they’re curating playlists or discovering new artists.
Eventually, though, I plan to take things even further by offering exclusive access to my music directly through my website. It’s a vision I’m working on for the future, creating a space where fans can not only stream and download my music but also connect with my creative world on a more personal level.
Advice for Fellow Creatives
Photobombshell: What top piece of advice would you share with independent artists who are just getting started?
James Loner: My best advice for independent artists is to stay consistent and true to who you are. Don’t chase trends or try to fit into someone else’s lane. Your authenticity is what will set you apart. Focus on perfecting your craft, building genuine relationships, and learning the business side of the game. Success doesn’t come overnight, but every step you take brings you closer.
As Ace said in Paid in Full, “You’ve got to work like it’s already yours.” That mindset is key. Move with purpose, put in the work daily, and trust that your grind will pay off. Best believe I’m nowhere near where I want to be yet, but I’ve learned to embrace the journey and let the process shape me.
Plans for 2025
Photobombshell: What can listeners, readers, and fans look forward to from you in 2025?
James Loner: In 2025, fans can expect me to take everything to the next level. You’ll get more music, more visuals, and deeper storytelling. I’m working on projects that push boundaries, blending new sounds with the same raw, authentic energy I’ve always brought to my music. There will be collaborations, more live performances, and exclusive content that connects directly with listeners in new ways.
Beyond that, I’m building something bigger; a space where music, fashion, and creativity intersect. I’ll be launching exclusive music and merchandise through my website, giving fans a more personal connection to my work. 2025 is all about growth and creating an experience that inspires and resonates. Stay tuned, because I’m just getting started.

Beyond the Music
Photobombshell: I love that. It sounds like it will be a productive year for you. What have you wanted to share in an interview but no one has asked yet?
James Loner: One thing I’ve always wanted to share in an interview is how much my creativity extends beyond just music. I’ve been working on developing my anime series, Echoes of Time, which has been a huge passion project for me. It’s a story about resilience, family, and the power of connection, told through the lens of time travel and sound. Creating this series has given me another way to express myself and connect with people on a deeper level.
On the music side, my recent live performance of iENViSiON dropped on December 6, 2024, and I’m excited to share that energy with my listeners. You can find all my latest releases and updates on my platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud, or connect with me directly through my socials, Instagram (@JamesLoner_) and Twitter (@JL0N3R_). Stay tuned! 2025 is going to be a big year!
