At Photobombshell Media we work with artists who built something real before anyone else was paying attention. Chris Fields, known to fans as Phantom Fields, is exactly that artist. Today we’re proud to share his news. Necessary Chaos, his sixth studio album, is out now, and it might be his most honest project yet.
Fields has been independent since 2007. No label, no shortcuts, just a nearly two-decade run of writing, performing, and producing every record himself. His 2008 breakout single “Phantom Muzik” put him on the map early. Since then, he’s stood in rooms with Timbaland and Danja, including the record “My Escape” featuring Brandy. His guest verse on Tink’s “Million” crossed one million streams, approaching two million before being taken down from SoundCloud. The same verse can be heard on YouTube, with over 13,000 views to date. As a producer in his own right, he released his self-made record “Wave Different,” which landed a sync placement on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. That’s the kind of résumé most artists chase a career to earn. Fields built it on his own terms.
About Necessary Chaos
Necessary Chaos follows 2024’s No Hard Feelings and marks a deliberate turn toward rap-forward, lyric-driven storytelling. The lead single, “The New Cool,” lands as track four. True to form, Fields produced almost the entire album himself, bringing in only one outside hand: Baltimore producer Ezreaux Damari, who built, “5 Lbs of Pressure.” Damari is a Grammy-nominated producer whose credits include Nas’s “Store Run” off King’s Disease II and collaborations with Hit Boy.
This is the sixth chapter in a catalog that includes Dreams Are Forever, HATELOVE, Faded Memories, What I Meant To Say, and No Hard Feelings.
